Fisherman's Story: 1.5 Ton Sunfish Found in Indonesia

Are you one of those who knows a fisherman who caught a very big fish and couldn't get it out of the water? Or have you fished a giant animal yourself and pity it, returning it to the sea? Have you also heard the story of that huge fish that ate an entire ship with one bite?

Yeah ... fisherman stories are always full of fantasies and hype, but this time they have proof! A rare 1.5 tonne sunfish was found by Indonesian fishermen beached on the beach. "Oh, dear Mega, but they didn't even catch fish ..." you might be complaining. But does it matter?

At 2 meters and 1.5 tons, sunfish is found in Indonesia

The case happened in Palu, Indonesia. Sunfish usually live 600 meters deep and when they surface can be mistaken for sharks because of their fin. With its round shape, grayish color and rough skin, it is also called "spring spring" or "sunfish" (in English it refers to the sun and not the moon).

The fishermen who found the specimen in Indonesia tried to save the critically ill animal. An attempt was made to drag the big fish to the sea, but the tide prevented the success of the venture and the sunfish died. It was about two meters long, but the species can be twice that size! Also, despite the small mouth, they can't close it completely. Now you know how to nickname that chubby, chubby friend, don't you?

Despite community efforts, the sunfish died on the beach
