Netflix will invest more in content similar to 'Stranger Things'

Netflix seems to be aware of its users' tastes when creating their original content. After all, producing movies and series with the quality the company has been making is too expensive to have a low audience.

According to analyst firm Ampere Analysis, the Sci-Fi & Fantasy genre - fantasy and science fiction - has become the favorite category for streaming subscribers and will therefore have Netflix's increased attention to existing series such as "Stranger Things" and "The OA".

In the first half of 2017, comedy still reigned as the platform's most popular genre, favoring 14 of its users. A year later, that number dropped to 11%, while fantasy and fiction rose to 12%.

In response to these changing tastes, the company has focused its investments on this style. To be aware, 29% of all Netflix original content is part of this umbrella, which includes series like "Black Mirror" and "Altered Carbon" and movies like "The Cloverfield Paradox" and "Annihilation" .

Who likes this style and identifies with the titles mentioned above can celebrate, because news should emerge in the coming months and years. According to Ampere analysts, Netflix makes improved analysis of user interests, taking care to readjust its productions to what is really profitable for streaming.

If you've noticed that the volume of fiction and fantasy content has increased on your screen, it's not because your tastes have changed, but because the platform is really moving in that direction. And it seems that "Stranger Things" was the beacon of this change, because the series fell in the taste of users.

And you, what do you think? Do you like the genre or do you have any other favorites? Leave your opinion in the comments.
