Do clams like to lick salt?

If you are a seafood fan, you are certainly not used to seeing them as in the video above. Posted on YouTube by PrincessNeba, the clip shows a marine mollusk, known here in Brazil as vongole, licking salt scattered on a table. In fact, considering there's a stove right behind it - poor guy - it looks like it's "self-conducting".

However, according to some comments posted by those who watched the video, the pet is not licking anything, because the vongole has no language. Because these animals are native to intertidal zones, the film's seafood, realizing that it is in a dry environment, is probably trying to bury itself in the sand until the next high tide arrives. Or was it to hide from the cook?
