Cup break! Google doodle honors Brazilian artist Athos Bulcão

The time is World Cup in Russia, and the subject dominates even the internet, but Google has found a place to honor a Brazilian - and with a beautiful coincidence, since this Monday (2) is precisely the game day of the selection by the round of 16.

The doodle on the search engine homepage is a tribute to Athos Bulcão. The artist, who was immortalized because of his work with tiles in public buildings and tourist sites in the country, was born on July 2, 1918, exactly 100 years ago.

An animated GIF.

The animation of Google is very simple, with the logo of the site being transformed into works in the style of teacher, designer and artist. Check it out on the search engine page or above.

Among his most outstanding works are the decoration of the Pampulha Church in Belo Horizonte and the National Congress in Brasilia. He was for years partner of architect Oscar Niemeyer in the idealization of the capital. Bulcão passed away in July 2008 in Brasilia, a city he helped to embellish.
