Russia plans to build a hotel on the International Space Station

If Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, the leaders of SpaceX and Blu Origin, respectively, duel to see who will take the first tourists into space, the Russian government plans to build a hotel on the International Space Station (ERA) to house travelers. To stay there for a week, the guest would need to shell out no less than $ 40 million, with the possibility of paying another $ 20 million to walk through the space.

The project presented by the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, was developed by Russia's RKK Energia as a way to fund the construction of a second US $ 446 million ERA module.

The company hired by the Russians has already started building on the first module, which will be paid by Roscosmos and will have a laboratory and also a power station. The second part, however, will not be funded by the Russians, which is why the hotel seems to be a viable work.

The proposal by the eastern European country includes the construction of four-room two-cubic meters and windows about nine inches. There is a common area with 16-inch windows, as well as medical and hygiene facilities. Remember that the International Space Station may become exclusively Russian from 2028, which also justifies the intention of the government of that country to build a hotel there.

Faced with a scenario where it is only a matter of time before the first commercial flights to space begin to be realized, having facilities where multi-millionaires can spend money to experiment with space seems a somewhat profitable project.
