Surfer catches 30 meter high wave and breaks his own record

Veteran Garrett McNamara doesn't seem to tire of even challenging the sea. According to a report published by Time, last Monday, January 28, the Hawaiian surfer caught a 30-meter (100-foot) wave on Portugal's North Nazareth Beach, beating the previous record - also his - almost 24 meters.

The mark has yet to be made official by the Guinness team, which will have to research and measure the actual wave height surfed by McNamara. According to the Hawaiian, the coast of Nazareth presents some of the largest waves in the world thanks to a canyon located about 15 kilometers offshore, which is becoming narrower and narrower towards the coast. It is this very specific formation that makes the waves in the region so large.
