Earthmover fails once again while trying to take off on "home rocket"

“Mad Mike”, the earthmonger aka Mike Hughes, tried to launch himself into the sky again this weekend with a rocket made by himself. After being prevented from launching another rocket in November last year and subsequently canceling the rescheduled launch, Hughes attempted to fly again last Saturday (03).

The event was streamed live on the web by Noize TV - which charged $ 5 per viewer - but after a few minutes the release was canceled as a technical failure. Hughes did not detail why one more flaw in his homemade rockets during the live broadcast, but a video appeared on YouTube with him explaining that an “actuator” was not working properly. There is no concrete confirmation yet about a new date for the relaunch.

Had it worked, the Hughes rocket would have flown at a speed of just over 800 km / h and would have brought it to a height of over 500 m above the ground. This data, however, is a simple estimate of the vehicle manufacturer. During an interview last year, Hughes said he did not believe in science and intended to launch himself into the sky to prove that the earth is actually flat rather than spherical, as most humanity and all scientists believe.

Despite recent failures, Hughes has already managed to fly a homemade rocket on at least one opportunity. In this case, he almost died because he miscalculated the weight of the vehicle in relation to the size of the parachute used. As a result, he landed hard and was hospitalized for weeks. In his latest attempts at launch, he obtained partial funding from earthmover groups.
