See Spotify commercial banned for being too scary

The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a Spotify commercial for being “overly disruptive”. The streaming platform has prepared a television commercial for Halloween: well produced, the scary film can be seen at the end of the story.

In the video, a masked doll appears at the youth house as a malevolent apparition. Playing with a specific song, the doll appears as Annabelle, known for the Hollywood movies that have recently used her figure.

The video jokes with the movie Annabelle - and it scared a lot of kids

The theme of the 60-second commercial is "Killing Songs You Can't Resist." According to ASA, the commercial was also banned because it was "irresponsibly directed and because it was aired during videos shown to children."

“We acknowledge the judgment of ASA and apologize for any issues the announcement may have caused the complainant. It was created as a mockery of ironic horror, intended to be a humorous ad that showed how captivating some clues can be. We take our responsibilities as marketers very seriously and remain aware of ASA's guidance on effectively and appropriately targeting advertising campaigns, "said a Spotify spokesman on the Quartz portal.
