1. The guy who covered his tattoos for a commercial

Rick Genest is a famous Canadian model best known by his nickname: Zombie Boy. The boy was named after almost 80% of his body covered with tattoos. Just the fact that Genest covered his almost entire body with tattoos is a radical enough transformation, but the model gained even more prominence after participating in a Dermablend ad campaign.

The video was released in late 2011 and has seen about 20 million views since then. As part of the Go Beyond the Cover campaign, Genest has come to cover its famous tattoos on its face, arms and torso and is virtually unrecognizable as the designs are its trademark.

Since the purpose of the campaign was to show that people go far beyond their appearance, those responsible sought to surprise those who do not know the model from the moment it begins to rub the skin and reveal its true look.

2. The personal trainer who gained weight to understand obesity

Paul “PJ” James is also an Australian model and personal trainer, but his project was much bolder. When we see the news of a major transformation, it is usually a person who has lost a lot of weight and then begins to look enviable, but PJ has done something a little different.

Being a personal trainer, being fit was never a problem for him. But James decided to challenge himself to put on weight and weight again to understand what obesity is and how overweight people feel. To that end, he stopped exercising and started eating large amounts of junk food that took him from 80 pounds to 120 pounds in a few months.

The whole project lasted a year - six months to increase weight and fat in the body and another six months to change the diet and train hard to get back in shape. In the video above (with audio in English), Paul James tells a little about the experience and shows several photos of its evolution.

We don't need to discuss much about the effects that alcohol, cigarettes, and a high fat diet can have on our body. But when it comes to this, the focus is often much more on our overall health than on our appearance.

We know that smoking yellow teeth and caloric eating will result in a few extra pounds, but we don't usually worry about the long-term effects. To get an idea of what she would look like if she abused some of these things, 42-year-old journalist Anna Magee agreed to see what would become of her in a few years. For that, forensic artist Auriole Prince - expert in creating digital images that show how people will look over time with their lifestyle - has transformed Magee's face.

The journalist, who is already showing slight signs of aging and has therefore invested in cheek fillers and botox injections, could see what it would look like ten years after smoking a cigarette wallet a day, drinking two glasses of wine every night or consuming large amounts of refined carbohydrates and junk food. The last image shows only the action of time on Magee's face.

4. The woman who received a face transplant after an accident

Today

Charla Nash, 55, was attacked by a chimpanzee in 2009 and had her face badly injured. With serious injuries to her nose, ears, lips, and both hands, the woman stood between life and death. Travis, the 14-year-old chimpanzee, was eventually killed by police shortly after the attack.

After seven hours of emergency surgery, Nash was no longer in danger, but his face was completely disfigured. Due to the terrible state of her appearance, two years later the woman underwent a face transplant - the second to be performed in the world. The operation was staffed by dozens of professionals and took 20 hours.

The face transplant was considered a success and, despite being blinded after the accident, Nash managed to restore his appearance. The victim also received new hands, but these were removed by doctors, as the body rejected.

5. The former neo-Nazi who underwent 25 surgeries to remove his tattoos

The transformation of Bryon Widner.

A photograph reveals Widner's past.

The body marks will still be covered by new designs.

Bryon Widner is a former gang leader who advocated white supremacy and spent months undergoing a painful laser treatment to erase the hateful tattoos that covered his face. For years, Widner was one of the supporters of one of America's best-known racist groups. But because of his appearance, he found it difficult to get a job and, in desperation, considered throwing acid in his own face.

Widner got a sponsor to cover the high costs of all the procedures he would have to go through. In all, the treatment cost more than $ 30, 000 and was so painful that the former neo-Nazi needed general anesthesia to finish each session.

After undergoing 25 surgeries over 16 months, Widner today displays a clean face free of the images he so much wanted to erase. However, the man still carries many marks all over his body, as he also has tattoos on his arms and trunk. About these designs, Widner said he intends to cover the images with hate content with new tattoos.
