Watch a concrete floor soak up 4,000 liters of water in 60 seconds

An amazing video was released by Tarmac - an English building materials manufacturer - where you can see how a concrete floor can almost instantly absorb gallons and gallons of water thrown by a concrete mixer truck. During the 60-second period, 4, 000 liters of water disappear over the patio lined with porous concrete developed by the company.

Called Topmix Permeable, this new product is paving concrete that quickly drains large amounts of liquid from parking lots, patios, sidewalks and backyards. This minimizes the cost and long term maintenance of stormwater management. It can absorb on average 600 liters of water per minute per square meter.

Good for everything

According to the manufacturer, Topmix Permeable is easy to prepare and apply, is good for the environment, reduces costs and has a beautiful and elegant aesthetic. It can also be applied in places with high risk of flooding to prevent flooding. The only problem not yet solved is the risk of freezing in colder regions. Still, it's a sensational idea to create a concrete floor that dries out puddles before we step on them.
