Scientists discover new part of human body

Studies of human anatomy began a long time ago, and if you were a good student of biology, you probably remember that Leonardo Da Vinci himself had been studying body parts since 1480. Da Vinci innovated this kind of research, since it had the idea of performing the dissection, practice not very common - nor legalized - at that time. And since then, studies about the human body have only gotten deeper.

The fact is that a long time has passed since the research of the Mona Lisa painter, but medicine continues to make new discoveries about the anatomy of the human body. Small as they may seem, they all have enormous importance in science as a whole. In the first half of this year, scientists discovered a microstructure of the human eye that had not yet been registered.

Discovery ophthalmologist Haminder Dua named the structure "dua layer", which is now the sixth known layer of the cornea - a transparent structure in front of the eyeball. The discovery of this new part of eye anatomy will enable eye doctors to better work with diagnoses and treatments for eye and especially corneal disease, and of course make transplantation surgery simpler.

Another condition that may be better studied is hydrops, a disorder that causes fluid to accumulate in the cornea and perhaps more specifically in the dua. The researcher also says that all books on eye anatomy should be rewritten, since many diseases can affect the cornea and some researchers already relate many of them to the newly discovered structure.
