KFC leaves Japanese customers without chips

KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) has stopped serving its customers in Japan because of the US port strike and the blockade that forced McDonald's to ration portions in December.

"The prolongation of the West Coast dockworker conflict makes it difficult to deliver potatoes, " a company statement that suspended the sale of chips said on Thursday.

Japan's McDonald's branch, which has 3, 100 restaurants in the archipelago, had to restrict chips in December.

The situation has normalized with the urgent supply of thousands of tons of potatoes by plane and boat from other countries.
