10 more events that turn 50 in 2019

1. Stonewall Rebellion

On June 28, 1969, New York police stormed the Stonewall Inn bar, starting a series of protest riots. They culminated in the modern face of the LGBTI + movement in the United States.

2. Woodstock Festival

A rock festival scheduled to host 50, 000 people eventually attracted more than 400, 000 people to a small town of 4, 200. The “little show” at Bethel became the most acclaimed festival in history, summing up the counterculture of the late 60's and early 70's. A milestone, no doubt!

3. The Beatles concert on the roof

After more than 2 years without performing live, the Beatles simply climbed the roof of the label for one of their most iconic shows. It was noon on January 30, 1969, and, without warning, the band played a 42-minute show and featured some of their new songs. The people who passed by went to delirium, until the police were called to end the "harassment".

4. Post Office

Although letters have been exchanged for a long time, it was not until March 1969 that the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (ECT) was established.

5. “Lost in the Night”

Oscar winner for best film in 1970, "Lost in the Night" was released in theaters in June of the previous year. To this day, it is the only forbidden feature for over 18 years to win the cinema's top prize.

6. “Tropical Country”

If Brazil could choose a popular “anthem”, surely the song “Tropical Country”, written by Jorge Ben and recorded by Wilson Simonal, would be among the favorites. Launched in August 1969, it was Simonal's biggest hit and also burst into the voices of several singers such as Gal Costa, Jorge Ben Jor, Daniela Mercury and many others.

7. “The Godfather”

Mario Puzo's novel “The Godfather, ” was released in the United States in 1969, but only came to our country 11 years later. The book has been called “The Godfather” here, until it was established that it would be “The Godfather” to accompany the success of the movie's name.

8. Tic Tac
