Colorful corn promises to make June parties even cooler

Selective planting has produced a different type of corn: colored grain

They are called “glass gems”

The origin of this multicolored variety is from an Oklahoma (USA) farmer

Carl Barnes planted older corn kernels and found “relics” among the seeds

Barnes exchanged some seeds with several other farmers in the country

This further increased the color of the plant.

The farmer has Cherokee descent, who are native Indians of the United States

The pedigree of these seeds dates from the year 1800!

The hybridization of the colored seeds with the traditional yellow ones gave rise to new colors.

And it's always possible to mix more and more

If you are interested, you can even buy some seeds with this color online.

And the corns are beautiful and appetizing, huh?

Marketing is done by Arizona-based Native Seeds / SEARCH

She got the seeds from Greg Schoen, a farmer who won his copies directly from Carl Barnes
