The rare phenomenon that leaves a trail in Mato Grosso do Sul under water

In recent weeks, a rarely reported phenomenon is leaving the internet with the flea behind its ear. It is a trail located in an ecological reserve in the city of Jardim - about 300 kilometers from the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, Campo Grande - which is completely submerged after the rain.

The video, viewed more than 1 million times on YouTube, was recorded in early February by Waldemilson Vera, a reserve employee. In the images, he walks a trail of the park completely flooded because of the flood of a river of the region, with the water level well above the normal.

By the end of the day the river had returned to its usual level; However, given the repercussion of the video on social networks, Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata released a note explaining what happened. "When it rains a lot, the River Plate runs slower, causing its damming and raising the water level of the Olho D'Água River. Despite the flood, the waters of the Olho D'Água River remained crystal clear due to its riparian forest. preserved ”.

The site is part of an RPPN (Private Natural Heritage Reserve) and is set within a private farm where is the source and part of the Olho D'Água river course. There you can enjoy nature through the trails that permeate the preserved forest, float and dive in fresh water, watch native birds and go horse riding.
