Disney stunt robot hangs, does heroic pose and aerial stunts

Disney has had themed complexes for over 50 years and has always been working on ways to turn replicas of its creations into loyal versions that have become more sophisticated over time. From hydraulic schemes to fully electronic molds, their freelancers are currently very similar to the characters and more recently have been gaining momentum. “Stunt robots” are able to mimic explosive action scenes, including aerial stunts.

The idea for Stuntronics came from the Imagineering Research & Development division and the desire to bring to reality the moves a hero makes in electrifying sequences from a Marvel Studios movie, for example. The "stunt robots" came out of a modest project called BRICK (Binary Robotic Inertially Controlled Brick), a metal brick with sensors and the ability to alter its center of mass to control its rotation to achieve precise orientation and height.

Then it evolved into Stickman, a hinged stick-shaped version that received laser sensors to calculate height and contract like a gymnast. Then it arrived at the Stuntronics, which features accelerometer and gyroscope, as well as lasers. The result? A machine that can hang on a cable in the air, pose as a hero, somersault, and even do some adventuring before falling - without fear of crashing to the ground.

It is still unclear which attractions these "stunt robots" will be used for in the parks and whether we will ever see any commercial versions - or if they will be used in the movies, instead of the real life stuntmen. However, given the advancements that Disney has been making, this technology may even be used for other purposes.
