Did you know the Pentagon has a plan for dealing with a zombie apocalypse?

You know, it never hurts to be prepared to face any kind of difficulty, including a possible zombie apocalypse, right? And of course the US Government has an action plan in the event that this situation ever happens! Incidentally, such a program even has a name - CONPLAN 8888 - and covers a wide list of possibilities.

Certainly, for those who think that this is just a trick question, the project description begins with the phrase “this plan was not developed as a joke”. The document describes specific details related to the purpose of the initiative, different types of zombies that we will eventually have to defend ourselves from, and what actions to take in each case.

Undead Team

The main focus of the plan is to establish and maintain defense against zombies, eradicate the risk of attack on humans, and help preserve law and order by ensuring the maintenance of basic services. With respect to the undead classes, the Pentagon considered Pathogenic Zombies, that is, those born through the spread of viruses, bacteria or other agents, as well as Radiative Zombies, created by the action of particles or electromagnetism.

The Pentagon also considered the Space Zombies, coming from space or resulting from contamination by alien toxins, the Weapon Zombies, developed as a kind of bloody biological weapon, the Vegetarians, focused on the massive destruction of plants, the Symbionts - whose description reminds the “The Walking Dead” characters - and even Zombie Chickens, which pose no great risk to humans but are terrifying.

Of course, if you don't know, this last kind of zombie is the only one that is proven to exist in real life. These undead are older chickens that are no longer able to lay eggs and are sacrificed by the farmers using carbon monoxide. It turns out that birds are not always dead when they are buried, and sometimes they come back to frighten humans.

Reading incentive

Although the document is not a trick question, it is evident that the Department of Defense does not believe that one day we will really be attacked by hordes of brain-eating undead. The document is actually used as a handbook for teaching the basics of military planning, and was designed to make reading fun, turning a normally serious and monotonous topic into something more interesting.

In the guide, the Pentagon treats the possibility of a zombie apocalypse occurring in the same way as it faces the threat of alien invasion, covering the phases of defensive resistance until the restoration of order. But instead of using actual locations that could potentially pose risks in the event of problems, the writers chose to employ a totally impossible scenario that can never be confused with a real plan.

However, if this terrible situation ever arises, the US Department of Defense would know exactly how to fight zombies of all kinds and how to reestablish order later. After all, who guarantees that this will never happen? If you are also willing to be prepared for this eventuality, you can check out the following manual:
