Deadly Selfie: Man Loses Life Trying To Take Picture With Bear

Selfie-related deaths are no longer new. There have been people falling, touching a power line and being attacked by a bull, but now a new style has just been registered: death by bear attack.

The case was filed in Nabarangpur District, India. Taxi driver Prabhu Bhatara was on his way to a wedding when he stopped by the roadside after hearing the call of nature - literally, as he had to pee. He spotted an apparently injured bear and decided to take a selfie with the animal.

The other people with Prabhu tried to keep him from approaching, but it was too late. The bear had already grabbed the Indian and proceeded to attack him with his claws. A stray dog tried to drive the bear away but was unsuccessful. Prabhu died on the spot, even before the ambulance arrived. Already the bear has been captured and is being treated for his injuries.

The deadly attack was captured on video by spectators accompanying Prabhu to the wedding. You can play below, but be aware that scenes can be strong and disturbing for more sensitive people :

India is one of the places where the most selfies-related deaths happen. Between March 2014 and September 2016, 127 such deaths have been reported worldwide, with 76 of them (60%) occurring in India.
