Fernando's family chose to veil his body in this unusual way, with him sitting in a chair and even a small cigarette in his hands.

And it wasn't even the cigarette that killed him

It is the ninth wake in this style in Puerto Rico, but the first in which the deceased has his eyes open

Keeping your eyes open was a funeral surprise, but the family approved

Fernando was wearing his favorite clothes, including his unfailing cap

The family wanted to remember him in this more “cheerful” way, not lying in a coffin
