Color-blind people see colors for the first time [video]

Just over two years ago, a company called EnChroma invented a new type of eyeglass that can correct color blindness, a kind of eye shift that causes people to miss certain parts of the light spectrum. This company teamed up with a paint brand, Valspar, to produce the mini documentary you watched above.

They took people who had the rarest kind of color blindness, the one that only sees shades of gray, into an environment full of over-colored elements. The reaction of these people is rather exciting because it is such a simple experience for most people. The video was published a week ago and already has over 1.7 million views.

According to Valspar and EnChroma, it is estimated that around 300 million people worldwide suffer from some kind of color blindness. These people may have difficulty seeing colors in shades of red, green or blue. Some simply do not see any of them and see the world in shades of gray.
