Family has identical photos recorded for 22 years. See the result
A photographer named Zed Nelson decided to start a rather unusual project in 1991 when he learned that the wife of one of his best friends was pregnant. He set out to record photos every year at exactly the same day and in the same scenario for as long as he could to keep up with the natural evolution of that chosen family. The couple of friends agreed to participate in the project and so the photos from the series “The Family” originated.
In the photos below, we can see the 22-year advancement in a family: how a small baby grew up and how its parents grew older. According to Nelson, the uniform style of the photographs is purposeful, as there are no distractions for the people who observe them, allowing them to analyze the protagonists with greater attention. "There are no distractions, only the miracle of growth and the changes of time and age, " he says.
Projects like this are often very successful and catch people's attention for a number of reasons, the main one being mortality. According to Nelson, one of the most interesting aspects of the project is to observe the boy's development, how at first he tends more towards his mother, while in the last photographs he pulls more towards his father.
