Although NASA scientists keep their eyes up most of the time, it's fortunate that there are other researchers with keen eyes here on Earth, including peeking into what happens in the backyard of the US space agency.

According to a NASA report, notorious dinosaur hunter Ray Stanford found a footprint of this animal in the back of the Goddard Space Flight Center - the agency's first space center - located near Washington.

Space exploration and paleontology

According to Stanford, it is the footprint of a nodosaurus, a four-legged herbivorous species that lived during the Cretaceous, between 110 and 112 million years ago. These animals were approximately 1.7 meters high and 5 meters long, weighing approximately 1.5 tons, and had a protective armor on their backs.

The discovery has already been confirmed by scientists at Johns Hopkins University and soon the site should be documented and preserved. According to Stanford, the place of discovery is poetic, as space scientists can be seen walking through the same places where giant dinosaurs passed millions of years ago.
