Indian taxi driver drives back for 11 years and is allowed to do so

Are you one of those people who hates to have to reverse your car and squirm so you can maneuver properly? Then think of someone who has been driving this way for no less than 11 years. Can you imagine? Sounds crazy, but this person really exists and is an Indian taxi driver.

Harpreet Dev is the name of the citizen who is known to everyone in his hometown of Bhatinda in Punjab. The man has an amazing ability to drive back, and the government has granted him a special license to drive his cab in this way in any state in northern India. It really sounds crazy.

It has gotten to the point that if someone asks Dev to drive forward, he is not responsible, nor does he trust himself to do so. Even locals find this driver's skill strange. Needless to say, it is sought after by many tourists passing by.

How it all began

One day Dev's Fiat Padmini got stuck in reverse, and he couldn't get back to normal for anything in the world. It was late at night and he needed to go back to Bhatinda. "I was out of town, had no money and needed to return to my home. So I drove back and later gained confidence in it."

Since then, Dev has equipped his entire car so he can drive that way. He himself redesigned the gearbox so that it could have four reverse gears and only one forward gear. It has also placed a siren to alert drivers who do not see the words stuck on the vehicle.

In these 11 years of practice, Dev can reach up to 80 kilometers per hour by walking this way. "I take every care I can to protect other drivers on the road, " he said, proud that he had never caused a serious accident by driving the car backwards. But why does he have such incredible fascination?

Joining the Guinness Book

Harpreet Dev's biggest dream is to do something different, something unique, that he can be proud of being the only person to have accomplished. Driving in reverse allowed him to be known throughout northern India and a few more places, but the taxi driver was not content with just that and wanted to show himself to the world.

It was then that he tried to enter the Book of World Records. To this end, he drove back from Rajasthan, India, to Lahore, Pakistan, also to promote peace between the two countries. Unfortunately, he was unable to enter the Guinness Book, as an Englishman had been able to accomplish the feat from a greater distance.

He even tried to gather constant images from all the time he drove in reverse, but failed. So the dream of getting his skill out so that everyone could know him had to be postponed, but the Indian has not given up and is already thinking of a new adventure that can be recorded in the Guinness Book.

Problems

Dev's skill may be interesting and curious and he may love to do it all the time, but driving in reverse is causing many health problems for the taxi driver who even needs to be physically well in order to work driving the drivers. passengers through Indian places, making short and long trips.

The driver is suffering from severe and constant back and neck pain. "I have frequent neck pain and last week I had severe vomiting. All of this is a consequence of driving in the opposite direction because my body is completely writhing." But he believes it is worthwhile: "Achieving something special is never easy."
