10 Tips for Surviving Carnival

Carnival is practically there and many people from north to south of the country have already plunged headlong into revelry. However, despite the celebrations already taking place in Brazil, the carnival marathon starts strong even from next weekend. So to get away with all the fun and excitement, check out 10 tips we've selected for you:

1 - Drink lots of water

There is no body that can withstand the strong rhythm of the revelry without being well hydrated, especially with the high temperatures that have been recorded in recent days across the country. So drink some water. Lots of. Even if she's not as fresh as you would like, and don't forget to always carry a little bottle in her shoulder bag.

It is also worth using the good old coconut water, juices and isotonic drinks. Another important thing: beer and other alcoholic beverages, even the most refreshing, do not replace water and favor dehydration.

2 - Wear light clothes and pass sunscreen

Every year we see dozens of Batmans, Spider-Men, Supermen and related characters taking to the city streets, and it's impossible not to imagine the heat these guys must be going through under so much clothing!

Be aware that subjecting the body to extreme temperature conditions is unhealthy and therefore, if you are going to fantasize, give preference to light and fresh clothes. And when you're enjoying the daytime fun, be sure to bring a cap, hat, sunglasses and a good sunscreen. After all, the strong sun can be very harmful to our health. Just do not forget to wear clothes, as it is not worth going around peladão!

3 - Take care of your money and your belongings.

Big crowds, a lot of music, people partying, drunk everywhere ... In these environments, it's normal for people to let their guard down, be less attentive, and become easy targets for rogues who mingle with the crowd, so to avoid bothersome, take some care before falling into the revelry.

A good choice is to keep your money, documents, and cards in those little bags that are hidden under your clothes or in those discreet trinkets that every tourist has ever carried. Also, do you know the old cell phone you retired? Take it out of the drawer and leave your official device at home. And always have cash on hand - this will make your life a lot easier when buying drinks and snacks during the revelry.

4 - Leave the car at home

If you don't miss a beautiful party and have chosen to skip Carnival in one of the traditional destinations for that date, then tell us: How likely are you to encounter traffic jams, get stressed out where to park your car, cross over with abused flannel and come across intoxicated revelers?

Why are you going to want to worry about all these problems and risk ruining your party? Avoid driving during Carnival and leave your vehicle at home! It is much easier and safer to use one of the numerous services available today for transporting and moving people.

5 - Do not grab anyone by force

Traditionally, Carnival parties are often watered with a lot of music and drink, and it is common for revelers to put aside their inhibitions during the festivities. However, this does not mean that the “warmer” Carnivals can go around grabbing others by force. Can not! Under no circumstances. Not no, period.

In addition to being characterized as a crime, this type of behavior can lead to unnecessary confusion and fights, including involving those who have nothing to do with the situation. Moreover, forcing the bar and leaving without the other's consent is a gross lack of respect. There are differences between flirting and harassing, and they should be taken seriously.

6 - Do not overdo the drink

Despite all the campaigns running at this time of year, alcohol consumption increases significantly during Carnival. Also, could! With so much heat, partying and the endless beats and drinks that make the revelers happy, it's easy to overdo it.

However, drinking alcohol can pose a number of risks, not only to the person consuming the substance - as overdoing it can result in drowsiness, dehydration, loss of reflexes, nausea, vomiting and, in extreme cases, even death - but also for the community, because alcohol consumption is related to increased violence, traffic and personal accidents, and unprotected sex.

7 - Use a condom

Every year we are bombarded with campaigns on condom use and responsible sex during Carnival: TV, radio, social media, billboards, leaflets, educational booklets, print ads, free condom distribution. ..

Everyone should be bald to know that to avoid sexually transmitted infections, the most effective methods would be abstinence - right! - or the use of condoms. But it does not hurt to send another reminder here: do not forget to use the condom in the revelry. Never!

8 - Avoid "invitations" from strangers

The typical Carnival party atmosphere undoubtedly promotes interaction with strangers - which is quite healthy and can even result in the emergence of great friendships and even lifelong loves.

However, it is always good to be alert and avoid invitations from strangers, whether for a simple ride, ride or ride. Expect to get to know these people a little better before venturing alone with a new friend.

9 - Check the schedule before leaving home

Large carnival centers often offer a wide range of parties, parades, shows and activities for all types of revelers - from the youngest to the most alternative and those already at the “best” age.

So, before falling into the bash, check out the schedule - usually provided by the local town hall - to make the most of what Carnival has to offer and not stop by the wrong party by accident!

10 - Don't pee on the street

You know that Nature is damned - and it always calls, sooner or later! But no one deserves to take to the streets and come across the (bad) odors left by the legions of revelers who, at the time of the squeeze, decided to relieve themselves in any corner.

A good tip is to enjoy making that smart pee every time you find a public or chemical toilet, even if you're not dying right now. After all, you never know when you will have another opportunity to relieve yourself in a civilized way - without messing up the streets and affecting the fun of others.
