1 - Torture Phone

In the early 1960s, AE Rollins, the doctor at Tucker State Prison Farm, a chain located in Arkansas, had a creative flash and decided to create a toy to torture detainees. According to Abby, he took one of those old crank-operated phones, a generator, and two galvanic batteries and built what became known as the "Tucker Telephone."

Rollins used the device to treat troubled inmates, and he did so by pinning the subject onto a stretcher, placing the ground wire on his big toe and the other - through which the electric current flowed - into the genitals. Then the good doctor would crank the telephone and the poor prisoner would take that shock.

The torture machine was in operation until 1968, and longer sessions became known as long-distance calls . Although it sounds funny, the clashes could permanently damage the prisoners' genitals, and many who underwent “treatment” went insane.

2 - Number issuers

Known by the name "numbers stations" in English, the number stations operated in shortwave and transmitted random number or letter sequences - and they are believed to have emerged after World War II. At first, transmissions were made using the Morse code, but later they were also made by voice, including that of women and children.

In addition, broadcasts were often accompanied by beeps and noises between readings to signal intervals, and many believe that they were used to exchange code messages among Cold War-era spies. There are also those who believe that the broadcasters are but an elaborate joke, but the fact is that they are still active today - and no one has been able to unravel the mystery about them.

3 - Enfield's creature

In the mid-1970s, a couple from Enfield, Illinois, left their children at home and went out to dinner. Returning a few hours later, the two found the children completely terrified, and they said they heard something strange scratching the front door. The parents did not give much thought to the story and assumed that everything had been created by their children's fertile imagination until ...

According to Abby, in the middle of the night, the children's father - a man named Henry McDaniel - woke up to the sound of scratches on the door. Worst of all, when he opened it to see what it was, Henry came across a creature a little over six feet tall with gray skin, three legs, short arms, and two huge pink eyes. Henry even tried to shoot the stranger, but he escaped.

Henry even called the police, who, despite answering a call from a neighborhood child who had been attacked by a creature of the same description, did not believe the story. McDaniel saw the being again a few days later, but was instructed by the police to keep his mouth shut about what happened. However, the case ended up leaking, and even today there are investigations to find out what was the thing that scratched the doors of Enfield.

4 - Voices from the beyond

According to Vietnamese culture, a loved one who dies and does not receive a proper funeral in his homeland has his soul doomed to wander for eternity. For during the Vietnam War, with that knowledge in hand, US troops created a recording full of tormented voices - including that of children - that was played by planes, boats, and even soldiers with speakers to frighten enemies. . Listen:

According to Abby, the audio became known as "Ghost Tape Number 10" - or "Ghost Tape Number 10" - and the voices warned the Vietnamese to flee or else they would end up in hell. The odd thing is that the tactic worked, and even after the soldiers discovered that it was a recording, many still left their posts out of fear.
