The Babbel language app and the Elite Singles dating site have just revealed the preferences of crushes in Brazil and around the world. The survey was conducted between December 2017 and January 2018, and was attended by 6, 000 users of both applications.

Anyone who put the "academy" in New Year's resolutions and forgot to add a "foreign language" can rethink the list. That's because Babbel & Elite Singles research has found that appearance is no more important than communication and language skills. Almost all people interviewed in Brazil (90%) say that a good conversation is worth more than the look - even when it comes to just one night (70%).

After the Christmas excesses, everyone wants to get fit for the summer. And while the Brazilian population is one of the most vain in the world, that seems to be set aside at the time of romance: 54% say it's the personality that counts.
