Taiwan will fine parents who let children abuse gadgtes

How long do you think it is safe to let a child or teenager touch a smartphone, tablet or computer? Concerned about the excessive amount of time young people are spending in front of gadgets, the Taiwanese government has just passed a law that restricts the use of electronic gadgets in general for citizens up to 18 years old.

According to official determination, these children and adolescents cannot constantly use electronic products for a period of time that is not healthy for them. Parents or guardians who fail to do so by allowing their children to wear handsets for extended periods of time - potentially causing physical or mental illness - may receive a fine of US $ 1, 600 (approximately R $ 4, 150 in direct conversion to current price).

While it is unclear what “unhealthy time frame” is for kids and teens to get in front of their gadgets, experts at the American Academy of Pediatricians recommend a maximum of two hours per day for this group. Other countries, such as China and South Korea, have already taken similar measures in their territories. Does this fashion come to the west?
