5 very safe jobs that resulted in fatal accidents

Accidents at work are more common than they appear. There are many dangerous jobs that tend to offset the risk with higher pay; Police officers, firemen, security guards and stuntmen are some examples of these professionals.

However, getting away from these types of work is not a guarantee of safety. Anyone can be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and even the most risk-free professions can suffer from accidents.

5. Gardener

In 2014, in the United Kingdom, Nathan Greenaway hurried into the hospital. Doctors could not decipher what was wrong with the 33-year-old man, who died 5 days later from multiple organ failure.

Greenaway was a gardener and worked on large land. Thus, it was concluded that he touched a flower of the genus Aconitum, which has more than 200 species, most of them extremely poisonous. These plants can poison by ingestion or skin contact, causing dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, palpitations, cardiac and respiratory paralysis and even death.

Lawyer Clement Vallandigham was hired to defend Thomas McGehean in the case of an alleged 1871 murder in Ohio. Thomas Myers was in his room when five strangers stormed the place and a fight broke out. When Myers pulled his pistol, gunshots were heard, so he fired a few times himself and fell dead.

It is not known what really happened, but witnesses mentioned McGehean. Everyone knew that he and Myers were strange, so the judge and jurors believed his guilt.

To Vallandigham, Myers shot himself by accident. To prove it, he experimented with his own pistol. Then, upon returning to the hotel, he received Myers' weapon for analysis and wanted to demonstrate to a visitor, placing the two weapons side by side - one loaded, one not. He ended up shooting himself in the stomach with the wrong weapon.

During the fall, the businessman hit the toy several times before stopping at a metal fence. According to one of the doctors, it is likely that the initial impact caused a fatal head injury.
