Hyper Realism: Artist Recreates Photos Using Just a Pencil

Hyperrealism is a painting or drawing technique that consists in reproducing an image as faithfully as possible. Artist Paul Cadden took this proposal seriously and the result is the image you see above as well as the others in the gallery below.

From the countless wrinkles on a woman's face to the smoke of a cigarette, 47-year-old Cadden can reproduce extremely accurately what the cameras capture using only a pencil and his hands. Each image takes between three and six weeks to complete.

Sold in art galleries, each work can be worth up to £ 5, 000. “I have been drawing since I was six years old, and as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be an artist, ” explains the author.
