Do rappers really have as much money as they say?

Extraordinary yachts, incredible mansions, priceless jewels, and all this poured into gallons and gallons of top-quality champagne, vodka, and whiskey: you've probably seen it all in one of the music videos of top hip-hop singers.

But have you ever wondered if all this ostentation makes sense? Do these artists really have a heritage big enough to throw parties full of guests, ride the best cars, and stay at the most expensive hotels in the world?

Based on Forbes' richest rappers' list and the artists' own lyrics, Bloomberg Businessweek has created a graph that shows that the difference between what they sing and what they have is much bigger than we think.

At the top of the list are Pitbull, Nicki Minaj and Diddy, who refer to billions of dollars in their music, and their revenue is just a few million. Of these three, the most successful is Diddy, with a net worth of 580 million. Then Jay-Z proves to be the most realistic of all, announcing a figure close to his $ 475 million worth.

In the rest of the chart there are still Nas, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane and Wiz Khalifa. Here, the highlight is Nas, who, in addition to displaying much more than he has, had to pay $ 6 million to the IRS in 2011 and, for that reason, appears negative in this ranking.

But the opposite is also true: the table shows that there are those who prefer to remain humble even earning millions. Ludacris and Dr. Dre are two examples of artists who chose not to overdo it when it comes to talking about money in their music.
