From Hell: 6 Sinister Cases involving Babysitters

6. Cameras recorded abuse

Parents of a 1-year-old baby distrusted the nanny and decided to install cameras to investigate. The case happened in Passos, Minas Gerais, at the end of last year.

The images showed the woman, who had been working for the family for 5 months, beating the child and throwing her on the floor. With the evidence, she was taken to the Prison of Steps.

5. PMS Blame

A 41-year-old woman was arrested for mistreating a 6-month-old baby in the town of Ituiutaba, in the Minas Triangle. The child's parents recorded the nanny yelling at the child to "swallow" the food. Elsewhere, you can hear the following threat: “Oh my God! I'll give you 'Passiflora' (soothing); I'm crazy, where's Passiflora?

The recording also shows the woman drinking beer and belching in the child's face. When arrested, she even told the delegate that "just drinking to hold her job", since she did not like children. She even justified her actions by claiming she was on PMS.

4. Pedophilia and sodomization

It is common for many parents to use the internet to find babysitters for their children, as such companies often check their service providers' past. However, some people still get around the rules and go unnoticed in this environment.

Young Benjamin Evan Nelson, 27, is an example. A resident of Wisconsin, USA, he used the website of one of the largest companies of its kind (Care.com) to offer his job as a nanny. The parents who hired him believed that they could entrust the safety of their children to the young man. They were wrong.

Benjamin was a sadistic predator and was using the site to find his victims. In May 2015, the jury indicted him on five charges of sodomy and six charges of sexual abuse. According to court records, the first victims were boys: one 12 and one 14. Another indictment was filed on August 7, 2015, involving a third victim. This time, Benjamin's crimes included displaying sexually explicit conduct.

He was sentenced to 35 years in prison, and the company he worked for issued a statement: “This is a highly worrying issue, and our thoughts are with the family. We are working to enforce the law and there is still an open investigation related to the case. ”

3. The couple who fantasized about children

A resident of Texas, United States, the young Ashley Virginia Dack, 29, is another example of a pedophile who began working as a nanny to gain access to children. In October 2014, Ashley texted a friend to boast of his prowess with the little ones. The friend saved the conversation and immediately went to the police. The investigators searched Ashley and her boyfriend Patrick Schuneman's house.

There they found disturbing messages on the girl's phone in which she and her boyfriend fantasized about the kidnapping and sexual abuse of a child. They also found pictures of her inappropriately touching an 11-month-old baby.

Both were charged with sexual abuse.

2. Abduction

On the morning of November 20, 2015, the couple Tim and Joanie Albers from Massachusetts, USA, were startled to realize that their little daughter, just 2 years old, was not at home. They contacted the police, and the girl was found on a road a few miles from home. She was undressed, her hair had been shaved, and her skin had several injuries from cigarette burns. She was taken to the hospital, and authorities began searching for the perpetrator.

Unbelievably, they reached the child's former nanny, the young Abigail Hanna, just 21, who had been fired days before. When the police arrived at her house, she behaved suspiciously and had dirt under her nails.

Talking to a tenant from the young woman's building, they found that Abigail often went out in the middle of the night and that she had had a miscarriage the previous month. Shortly thereafter, they found a bag of children's clothing in the house, with a dirty dirt pink jacket. Abigail was charged with kidnapping, assault, burglary and trespassing.

1. Online Crimes

In November 2012, investigators obtained a search warrant for Robert J. Ramos Jr.'s home in Austin, Texas. During the action, police seized Robert's computer, which found evidence of child pornography and exploitation, incriminating the 33-year-old man and nanny Jennifer Mahoney.

With the discovery, the FBI went to Jennifer's residence, where she confessed that she had oral sex with a 5-year-old girl and aired the act online via Skype. Robert, who was a high school employee, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
